Our Interlocking Services
Full Excavation & Pave
We'll excavate the area to 12"-15" depth, install geo matting on a clay bed to prevent clay displacement, add 6 inches of compacted granular B, grade the surface for proper drainage, and pave the driveway with commercial grade asphalt. Hand tampering will be done on all edges for maximum strength.
Peel & Pave
We'll remove and dispose of the old asphalt, compact the driveway with commercial packer plates for maximum compaction, add a 5/8 granular top dressing, and lay 2" of HL3 fine asphalt compacted from 2.5". The edges of the driveway will be hand tampered for added strength.
Grade & Pave
Light excavation may be needed to grade water away from your home and create 2.5" space for asphalt. After setting the grade, we'll compact the entire surface using commercial packer plates. The driveway will be paved with 2.5" of HL3 fine commercial grade asphalt, compressed to 2". Hand tampered for maximum strength.

Installation Practices
At Capital Asphalt we pride ourselves on our execution. Below is a step-by-step breakdown of our “best in class” approach to interlock base installation. We have refined this process since 1993 to guarantee satisfaction when working with us.
Excavation
Dig the area to a depth of 12 to 15 inches, ensuring you
extend the excavation about six to eight inches beyond the planned
paved area.
Geotextile Fabric:
Lay down a layer of geotextile matting (also known as green line) at the bottom of the excavated area to stabilize the soil.
Base Layer
Add 8” to 10” of granular “B” (2” Minus) stone and compact.
Top Base Layer
Add 6” to 8” of granular “A” (7/8”) stone and compact thoroughly
Paving
Lay 2.5” of asphalt to be compacted to 2”
