Initial Consultation
During our initial consultation, we discuss how you, the client, are planning to use the space in order to access your needs and wants followed by a site analysis in order to address any defining factors that may impact the final build.
2D or 3D Design Presentation
Once we've designed your project in either the 2D or 3D format, we me will present you with our first draft sharing with you our ideas and adjust if needed. Once a design is approved we then provide a build quote.
Material Choices
Once a deposit is received, the next step is material choices and inlays Here we will make the best colour choices and pavers selection based on your home.
Initial Construction
Project build time. Depending on the size and complexity, you will be entered into your master schedule and eventually put into the queue.
Installation Practices
At Capital Asphalt we pride ourselves on our execution. Below is a step-by-step breakdown of our “best in class” approach to interlock base installation. We have refined this process since 1993 to guarantee satisfaction when working with us.
Excavation
Dig the area to a depth of 12 to 15 inches, ensuring you
extend the excavation about six to eight inches beyond the planned
paved area.
Geotextile Fabric:
Lay down a layer of geotextile matting (also known as green line) at the bottom of the excavated area to stabilize the soil.
Base Layer
Add 8” to 10” of granular “B” (2” Minus) stone and compact.
Bedding Layer
Spread one to two inches of premium bedding stone (also called seven mil chip) over the compacted base and level it out.
Perimeter Edging
Install snap edges around the perimeter to keep the pavers in place.
Laying Pavers
Place your pavers in the desired pattern on top of the bedding layer, making sure they are evenly aligned.
Joint Sanding
Once the pavers are laid, fill the joints with sand. You can choose between polymeric sand, which hardens and helps prevent weeds, or a crystallized permeable sand, depending on your needs. After spreading the sand, compact the pavers once more and then sweep away any excess.
