How thick will the asphalt be once paved?
Once your paving area has been hand tamped and properly compressed, it will be 2 inches thick.
How long should I stay off my driveway once paved?
We recommend that you stay off your freshly paved driveway for 2 – 4 days. However if you are able to wait a week, that would be best.
Even after the asphalt has cured, it will remain pliable for 8 – 12 months.
How long should I stay off my driveway after it's been sealed?
You should stay off your driveway for a minimum of 12 hours, however we recommend 24 hours.
How do I avoid marking up my freshly paved driveway?
During the first 8 – 12 months, try not parking in the same spot every time. Also, avoid dry steering, doing so may create ruts and divots.
How to avoid denting your driveway from everyday activities?
Kick stands are one of the most common objects to leave holes or marks if placed on asphalt at anytime, especially while the weather is hot. With this said, any object that has a high weight that transfers onto a small base can cause a dent (ie. 400 pound motorcycle with a 2 inch based kick stand). To prevent this from happening, place a board between the asphalt and the object.
What happens if my driveway cracks?
Due to expansion and contraction of the ground in Canadian climate, it is natural for cracking on the pavement to occur. The crack should be sealed promptly to prevent water from penetrating the asphalt and compromising the longevity of your base.
Is there anything I can do to help my driveway cure faster?
Watering your driveway with a hose will help your asphalt harden.
How do I prevent the edges of my driveway from cracking?
The edges of a paved driveway are most vulnerable to cracking and breaking. To avoid this, it is beneficial to support the edges (ie. backfilling with top soil).
What should I do if gas or motor oil leaks onto my driveway?
Gasoline, motor oil, transmission fluid and power steering fluid will penetrate through the asphalt if spilled. If you notice a spill, immediately apply dry sand, dirt, kitty litter or absorbent material to absorb the spill. It is also advised to contact an expert for an assessment on the severity.
